One man's tea is another man's treasure?

Peat is widely used in gardening and whisky production, but it is also a major carbon store. The UK has been trying to phase it out for years, with limited success.

Now, one of the more interesting ideas is coming from an unexpected place.
Suntory is exploring how spent tea leaves can be repurposed as a peat alternative, according to TrendWatching.

Given the scale of global tea production, that is a lot of potential raw material that currently goes to waste. It's a nice example of something the drinks industry doesn't often get credited for, repurposing waste and byproducts of production.

As pressure builds on supply chains and sustainability targets, waste streams across every part of a business can represent a creative opportunity to solve secondary issues.
